SpikeWeather

Privacy Policy

SpikeWeather collects as little as possible. It works fully anonymously — no account, no tracking across the web. This page explains the few cases where data is involved and why. Last updated June 2026.

You can use it without an account

Most of SpikeWeather needs nothing from you. Your preferences — saved spots, theme, format, and league setting — live in your browser's local storage, not on our servers. A random device ID is also kept locally so we can tell return visits from new ones; it isn't tied to your name or email.

Searching a place

When you search a beach or city, its coordinates are sent to our server to fetch and score that forecast. We use them for that request — we don't build a profile of where you go or store a personal location history.

If you sign in

SpikeWeather Pro lets you sign in with Google, Apple, or a magic link. When you do, we store your email address to identify your account and your entitlement. We never see your Google or Apple password — those providers handle the login and only share your email with us. You can sign out or ask us to delete your account at any time.

Payments

Pro is handled by established third-party payment processors (and, on iOS, the App Store). They process the payment and handle your card details directly — SpikeWeather never sees or stores your full card number. We keep only what's needed to know your subscription is active.

Notifications

If you turn on playability alerts, your device's push token is stored so we can send them. Turn off notifications for SpikeWeather in your device settings and the token stops being used.

Condition reports & analytics

When you vote a forecast accurate or off, that vote is saved to improve the scoring. We also record basic, privacy-friendly usage — page views and in-app actions like searches and shares — keyed to the anonymous device ID above. It's about which features get used, not who you are.

Who handles data for us

Forecasts come from third-party weather and tide data providers. The app runs on reputable cloud hosting and storage services, and payments go through established payment processors. Each only receives what it needs to do its job, and we don't sell your data to anyone.

Your choices

Clear your browser's local storage to wipe your saved preferences and device ID. Turn off notifications anytime in your device settings. If you have an account, you can sign out or email us to delete it and the data attached to it.

Changes

This policy may change as SpikeWeather grows; continued use means you accept the current version. Questions about your data? Get in touch.
