The beach volleyball forecast.

SpikeWeather scores wind, gusts, rain and temperature at your beach from 0 to 10, and shows you the best window to play.

The SpikeWeather iPhone app showing Santa Monica rated PRIME, good to play through 6 PM, with a score of 8.8 out of 10.

The score

One number for the whole forecast.

Wind sets the ceiling. Temperature, rain and gusts can only bring it down. You get a single 0–10 score, and it tells you what's holding it back.

  • 0–10 score, banded Prime to Blown
  • Your best playable window
  • Separate 2v2 and 4v4 scoring
  • Rain timing in 15-minute steps
The app's condition cards: feels like 86°, wind 9 gusting 12 mph from the southwest, and a score of 8.8 out of 10 reading “go play”.

The outlook

See the whole week, hour by hour.

Every day gets its playable window and its best stretch, so you can pick the session worth driving to. The hourly view scores each hour on its own.

  • Playable window and gusts for each day
  • Best day called out across the range
  • Hour-by-hour scores, as cards or a chart
  • 3 days free; 7 and 14 days with Pro
The app's three-day outlook: today Good from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday and Wednesday both Prime, with Wednesday tagged Best Day — above an hour-by-hour view scoring each hour.

  • Radar loop, past hours and forecast
  • Weather-service alert areas drawn on the map
  • Full screen with a scrubbable timeline
  • Live wind layer with Pro

Live conditions

Corrected by what's happening now.

SpikeWeather cross-checks nearby airport weather stations and radar, so the current hour reflects what's actually being measured at the coast.

  • Current-hour wind and rain from station reports
  • Radar alerts when rain is overhead
  • National Weather Service advisories (US)
A National Weather Service advisory banner in the app reading “Extreme Heat Warning · Heat Advisory”.
The same advisory in plain words: “The National Weather Service has a Extreme Heat Warning in effect — hydrate, keep games short, and get shade between them.”

Alerts

Get told, instead of checking.

Pick the beaches you play and the conditions worth leaving the house for. SpikeWeather watches them and sends a push the moment a playable window opens.
